The second annual medical mission in Kisii built on the foundation of last year’s success. Our team returned to Kisii, Kenya. This time spending time at 2 different Hospitals; Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital and Nyanchwa Adventist Mission Hospital.

 

The team included 23 volunteers made up of 2 orthopaedic surgeons, 2 anesthesiologists, 1 family medicine physician, 1 emergency medicine physician, 1 interventional pain and spine management physician, 1 physical therapist, 4 nurses, 2 physician assistants, 2 medical sales representatives, 2 surgical technicians and 3 volunteer students. We were joined by 2 Kenyan medical doctors as well.

 

The above team over a course of 3.5 days saw 3,164 patients in the outpatient setting, administered a total of 500 trigger point spine injections, 407 intra articular shoulder, hip and knee injections. The team also performed over the same duration 37 upper and lower extremity surgeries including total hip replacements, total knee replacements, upper and lower extremity fracture surgeries.
